Several enthusiastic amateur and professional athletes attended the launch of the KPMG Running Club last Tuesday.
Among the professionals were Comrades Marathon athlete from Pietersburg Road Runners Rufus Photo and gold medallist Ludwick Mamabolo who shared some fitness tips with members of the new club.
The KPMG Running Club is open to employees and their families and former employees of the firm. Organiser Johan van Vuuren said thus far 20 KPMG employees have registered to join the club. “None of them are members of a running club with most being social runners, walkers and beginners. Nonetheless there is already commitment from some of the members to practice hard and to attempt their first Comrades Marathon next year,” Van Vuuren said.
National KPMG Running Club Manager Dana Coetzee was the guest speaker at the function saying that the launch of the local club creates a fantastic opportunity to increase employee engagement, employee wellness and also to establish KPMG’s position as an employer of choice. The club will offer the firm’s employees and alumni the opportunity to participate in athletics, road running, cross country and trial running.
