The annual Ebenezer Mile which was hosted at the Ebenezer Dam attracted 309 eager swimmers to participate in the different categories on Saturday.
This event, considered as the biggest open water swim in Limpopo, once again offered swimmers a fantastic time in the water while family and friends who prefer to stay dry had the opportunity to enjoy fresh food or something to drink from the beer tent.
Rotary Haenertsburg organised yet another successful event with generous support from a number of large national corporate sponsors and many smaller local companies and organisations. It is believed that the Ebenezer Mile celebrated its 15th birthday with no hiccups and is considered as yet another victorious event.
Rotary Haenertsburg President Maria da Silva could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.
The popular mile (1 600 m) event saw Pia Stewart finishing first in the female open category with a time of 24:18.57 followed by Linda de Nysschen and Marjoné de Beer in second and third respectively while Adbul Railoun claimed victory in the open male category (19:02.56) and 3 000 m (35:05.22) with Reino van Wielligh finishing second and Brandon Thysse third in both.
