This weekend saw tens of karatekas participating in the 11th Battle in the Bush All Styles Karate Do Championships hosted at Eksteen’s Bushido Freestyle Karate Do Institute on Saturday.
Karatekas from as far as Sun City, Rustenburg and Burgersfort flocked to the city to take part.
Grandmaster Henri Eksteen said in 11 years of existence of the Battle in the Bush competition, it was one of the best hosted tournaments to date.
“This event was extra special as it was held in memory of Grandmaster Ronnie Colwell of Britain who passed away earlier this year. He was the founder and President of the World Kobukan Federation of which I am the official South African Director,” Eksteen said. He added that all future Battle in the Bush championships will be hosted in memory of Colwell.
