Polokwane hosted the third round of this year’s South African Handgun Championships over the weekend which saw almost 200 shots from across the country taking targets down hoping for a perfect score.
Participants competed in four divisions, namely standard, open, production and classic on a range with 16 stages which included static and moving targets. Every stage also symbolised a different scenario in which shots must adapt while shooting the targets.
Albert Wessels took no chances at missing targets and claimed victory in the classic division followed by Limpopo shot, Dion du Bruyn in second place and Wayne Hammond in third.
The open division was won by Eddie Smith with Thomas Montgomery second and Nazeem Khan in third place.
The production division saw young Polokwane shot Tertius Smit claiming the overall eighth place. The division was won by Tiaan Vermeulen, Guy Crossley and Tristan Hopper.
Keith Rolls had his aim on the targets and remained focussed throughout the championships which granted him an overall first place in the standard division. Justin Peacock and Fabian Scott took overall second and third place respectively.
