Area 51 RC Flyers hosted their bi-annual fly-in event at the club’s airfield at Dalmada on Saturday with more than 60 taking part.
Marius Theart, Deputy Chairperson of the club, said that the event was exceptionally successful, taking into account that the club is still young. “We had pilots from as far as Gauteng and are very grateful to the guests that entertained us with control line flying, jet aeroplane shows, a 3-D flying demonstration with helicopters and planes and glider tucking and flying. The Pilon racing aeroplanes that reach speeds in excess of 300 km per hour were spectacular,” Thiart said.
Danie Potgieter, a visitor from Gauteng and three times member of the Springbok team that competed in the United States of America, Japan, France and Poland, brought his Hera S aeroplane with contra-drive prop and said that the event was worth attending.
The club welcomes new members and Chairperson Pieter Bornman may be contacted at 082 325 5430 for further information.
