The substantial audience were glued to their seats witnessing an action packed event filled with professional and amateur fighting bouts when Cage Rage 10 was hosted in the city recently.
Among those present were Junior Ramusi, Senior Manager at the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and delegates from the department.
In the main event, being the last man standing ultimate challenge, eight warriors from around the country competed for the R20 000 cash prize and the South African World International Martial Arts Association and Organisation (SA Wimaao) championship belt. Rudi Roets from the Guts and Glory fighting camp eventually stood tall as the ultimate last man standing.
Kassie Bezuidenhout won in the first round with a choke and moved on to the next round. Bezuidenhout, previous SA Wimaao Champion and Cage Rage 9 winner, faced Paul Kubannek, the longest last man standing fighting competitor to date with an incredible 8 Cage Rage last man standing main events to his name.
Donovan Kotze from the Wild West Warriors won the 65 kg Pro bout against Tyron Patterson and won a cash prize of R5 000.
“Cage Rage 11 is scheduled to take place towards the end of the year where the current last man standing champion, Rudi Roets, will have to defend his national title,” said Henri Eksteen, Chief Referee and SA Wimaao President.
