The province’s mountain biking fraternity is looking forward to the annual EH Hassim Lentetrap Mountain Bike Challenge to be hosted at the Polokwane Game Reserve on 29 August.
The Lentetrap is a day for the entire family right from tiny tots on pink bikes with tassels streaming from their handlebars up to the serious mountain bikers who need to compete against the best in Limpopo and earn their provincial colours.
The day will start at 08:00 with 70 km and 36 km races for the more advanced riders and a 17 km race perfect for amateurs. Young riders can take each other on in the kiddie’s race. Entry fees are R160, R120, R50 and R30 respectively.
Amarillo Spur at Mall of the North is the main sponsor of the kiddie’s race while Panarottis Mall of the North will provide an entertainment area for youngsters.
Last year all proceeds were donated to the Cancer Association of South Africa while this year’s funds will go to Ride4Rhinos, an organisation focussed on the conservation of rhinos, especially in the Weenen Game Reserve.
Riders not wearing helmets will be excluded from the race. E-mail entries can be done at entries.lentetrap2015@mweb.co.za.
