Athletes who like to keep in touch with nature while challenging their speed and strength can now enter the fifth annual Haenertsburg Iron Crown Trail Run scheduled to take place on 11 July.
The event features a strenuous 21,1 km run over rough single track mountain paths which leads to the summit of Limpopo’s highest peak, Iron Crown. There is also a shorter 10 km distance and a 5 km fun run/walk for families. The scenery on the trail is pristine and spectacular. Those who want to bring their dogs along are more than welcome to do so.
The Iron Crown run is a fundraiser organised by the Rotary Club of Haenertsburg in conjunction with Ofcolaco Harriers.
“It is a festive day out for everyone, from the hard core trail runners to the not so adventurous racers, to leisurely strollers and families. Food will be on sale and there will a beer tent with cash prizes for winners in the different age and gender categories,” Rotarian Robin Gardner informed.
All funds raised will go to Rotary’s Preserve Planet Earth projects which aim to protect and promote a sustainable environment and other community projects.
More details on the run can be found on https://rotaryhaenertsburg.co.za.
