Are we as human beings facing extinction?

I’m constantly haunted by the viciousness of Covid-19 - Elvis Masoga

Even the nightmarish strike of terror in the dead of the night cannot equate to the ferocious virulence of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Fellow citizens, these are the most scariest moments and unimaginable tribulations in the history of humanity. Since the World Health Organisation declared Coronavirus a global pandemic in February, I have never mastered any peaceful sleep. Despite my inspirational mindset and resilient heart, I’m constantly haunted by the menacing viciousness of the Covid-19.

At times I frighteningly awaken from sleep in the dead of the night and loudly ponders: “Will this contagious pandemic plunge humanity into the hell-hole of extinction? Are human beings on earth facing the end of time?”

If there was ever a person who underestimated the brutal monstrosity of Covid-19, then that person must urgently consult with a psychiatrist. Coronavirus is posing the most deadliest and ferocious threat to humanity on earth. If we fail to contain, combat and eliminate Covid-19, then our survival as humanity is eternally doomed. In Italy, France, United States, Germany, United Kingdom, South Korea, Iran and China, the monstrous cruelty of the Coronavirus is unbelievably horrific. On a daily basis, the virulent virus is killing thousands and infecting tens of thousands of people globally. The deadly pandemic has claimed over 69 000 human lives and nearly 1,3 million people worldwide are infected with the virus.

Every day and every night, my conscience is haunted by the following speech presented by UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres: “The world faces an unprecedented threat. The Covid-19 pandemic has rapidly besieged the globe. It has spread suffering, it has disrupted billions of lives and it has endangered the global economy. Covid-19 is menacing the whole of humanity – and so the whole of humanity must fight back… if we do not act decisively now, this virus will establish a foothold in the most fragile countries, leaving the whole world vulnerable as it continues to circle and ravage the planet, paying no regard to borders.”

As humans on earth, we must deploy all our intellectual, economic and technological willpower to combat and defeat this monstrous pandemic. If we fail, then the deadly Covid-19 will plunge all humanity into extinction. This is an epic war that we must certainly win as humankind.
