3 delicious herbal tea recipes

There is nothing like a comforting cup of tea to start the day.

It is great to just sit back and watch as God’s paintbrush adds strokes of pink and orange to the horizon. Here is a list of delicious tea recipes that you can enjoy in the mornings.
• Winter chai tea
Ingredients: 4 cups Rooibos Tea, 1 cup cinnamon chips, 1/4 – 1/2 cup ground nutmeg, 1 cup ginger, 1 cup cardamom pods, 1/2 cup whole cloves, 4 vanilla beans cut into small pieces.
Storing instructions: Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Scoop into tea tin and package as desired. To brew: Place one teaspoon of chai in a tea ball or infuser with one cup of hot water. Steep for 15-20 minutes. Remove tea and sweeten with raw honey and add cream if desired.
• Hibiscus green tea
Ingredients: 6 teaspoons green tea (make sure to use a green tea that you like), 6 teaspoons chamomile (optional), 1/2 cup hibiscus flowers, 6 teaspoons orange peel (optional), 1-2 ounces dried raspberries crushed a bit, 6-8 teaspoons green leaf stevia (optional).
Storing instructions: Blend together, store in a jar and use as needed. To brew: use a tea infuser and hot water, steep for 10-15 min and sweeten with raw honey. The nice thing about this tea is the benefits from the tea and herb, along with the slight boost from the green tea. It’s a perfec mid-afternoon pick me up and very refreshing.
• Soothing lemon tisane
Ingredients: 1/4 cup = 1 part, 3 parts lemon grass, 1 part lemon balm, 1 part lemon peel, 1 part chamomile, 1/8 part cut stevia leaf.
Storing instructions: Mix all the herbs together, place in a glass jar and shake until they are completely mixed. Use one teaspoon for a single serving.
To brew: Add your desired amount to a tea strainer or teapot. Cover with boiling water and let steep for 5-10 min. Sweeten with raw honey if desired. More about teas next week.
