Not the weaker sex, the future belongs to women

I am inspired to say the least, at the emergence of a strong and determined female race

POLOKWANE – I would like to take a moment to congratulate all women who start up and run their own businesses.

In recent times, I have noticed that more and more women are realising their potential and taking their place at the helm. I don’t have to tell you how difficult it is to run a business in modern day South Africa, let alone one that flourishes.

Women have really come a long way, from the primitive caregiver role to fighting for equal rights during the 1950’s. Now we can finally say that we are taking our rightful place in the world, conquering grand challenges. Not to take anything away from our male counterparts, but we have had the odds stacked against us from the beginning.

Our voices are now being heard loud and clear and we can raise our heads with pride and say that the future belongs to us. The best thing about this is the coming generations of young women will now know that they can do anything they put their minds to despite being dubbed “the weaker” sex for so long.

It is comforting to see that our roles are not just in the homes now, we have come a long way and proven that we have evolved. I am not just saluting the business owners but all women in the corporate world as well.

Being successful in roles that were predominately “male” is not an easy feat. I am inspired to say the least, at the emergence of a strong and determined female race. This is the stuff legends are made of. And I would like to tell all my sisters, young and old, of every colour and race: keep shining!
