Don’t give up yet, the best is yet to come

A great achievement is preceded by many challenges. Don’t give up yet, the best is yet to come

POLOKWANE – Many people out there cry out every time saying: “I would have been walking today, but somebody dropped me; I would have been married today, but my partner dropped me; I would have been a rich man today, but my business partner dropped me; I would have gotten the highest position, but my colleagues had jealousy towards me; I would have still been a member in that church if they didn’t dislike and reject me”.

Someone once said: “nothing hurts more than being disappointed by the person you thought would never hurt you”.

That kind of a feeling is not foreign. A young, handsome and able prince at the age of five years was also dropped by his nurse fleeing the war. The bible says from that day, Mephibosheth became lame, (2 Samuel 4:4).

He was not born a cripple, but was incapacitated by another human being. He was no longer attractive; no one wanted to go out with him; when other kids went outside to play or climb trees, he had to stay in the house. This affected his emotions and self-esteem horrendously. Wherever he was, he would tell people: “I am the way I am today because somebody dropped me”.

Dear reader, you might have been dropped by people you loved and trusted so much; people you shared secrets and most of your life with; people you never thought would ever fail nor betray you.

You might have been disappointed by your parents, children, friends, colleagues, or party leadership.

However, in the pain you find yourself right now, I wish to remind you that it’s not all lost. A great achievement is preceded by many challenges. Don’t give up yet, the best is yet to come.

Handicapped, wounded and disadvantaged as you are. Having been deprived opportunities to live a better life like many others. Laughed at by friends, colleagues and even those you praise and worship the same God with. Stick your head up, it’s not over yet! Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.

In Chapter 9 of 2 Samuel, King David ordered for Mephibosheth to be fetched out of Lo-debar (a place of misery) to Jerusalem (the possession of peace). He ate at the king’s table for the rest of his life. You may not be there yet, but certainly, you are closer than you were yesterday.
