How to prank on the annual day of fools

POLOKWANE – It is traditional for people to pull April Fool’s stunts on each other every April 1, with family, friends, colleagues and even the business world participating.

Review asked a few residents what constituted a good April Fool’s joke.

“If I were to pull a stunt on my family I would tell them in the most convincing way that I had hit the jackpot on the national lottery. I suppose they would be cross with me for a while, but they would soon realise it was just a joke,” Jaco van Rensburg said.

Monique Coetzee said there were various ways in which she would fool people. “One way would be to add colouring to soap. When someone uses it, it will leave the person’s hands the same colour as the soap. There are all kinds of colourants that could be put into a shower head, which would provide a few surprises,” she said mischievously.

“I like to sneak up on people and give them a fright. I try to think of every day as April Fool’s Day because one must always have a sense of humour,” was Arthur Webb’s opinion.

“I would tell everyone I knew about the urgent weather report I had heard saying that due to global warming the sun would only set at 00:00. I think a lot of people will fall for that stunt,” Asaph Penyane said.

John Williams said he heard of a very good stunt recently.

“It was announced in one European country that April 1 would be the day of pasta harvesting. There were actually people who believed that pasta could grow on trees,” Williams chuckled.
