Limpopo teacher receives prestigious GET award

POLOKWANE – Maserole Mojela, a 25-year-old science teacher from Semorishi Primary School in Ga-Seema near Seshego, was honoured with the Excellence in Teaching Natural Science (GET) award during the 24th Annual National Teaching Awards held in Gauteng on Friday.

Mojela, who won at national level, shared her excitement about the recognition, explaining that the award reflects her dedication to providing high-quality education to her learners, despite the challenges of limited resources.

“I always strive to give my learners the best version of everything by going the extra mile. This award validates my passion and hard work. It inspires me to continue innovating and improving education,” she said.

After completing a B.Ed degree at the University of Johannesburg in 2021, Mojela started her teaching career at Semorishi Primary School.

She credits her mother, a teacher at Dibeng Primary School with over 30 years of experience, as her inspiration. “Growing up watching someone love making a difference in others’ lives made me want to follow in her footsteps,” Mojela added.

Mojela said the award serves as a beacon of hope for her school, community, and neighbouring schools.

She plans to continue motivating her colleagues to stay dedicated to their work despite challenges.

“To my fellow teachers, innovate, experiment, and take risks. Build strong relationships with learners and colleagues, and prioritise continuous learning. Above all, believe in yourself and the impact you can make.”

Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya extended her congratulations to the province’s teachers who excelled at the National Teaching Awards, commending their commitment to providing quality education.

“We are proud of their achievements and the lengths they go to in ensuring the delivery of excellent education across all grades,” she said.
