Two years in a row for Northern Academy

Headmaster Frederick Romijn, said they are satisfied to once again have won the independent schools award.

POLOKWANE – Northern Academy Secondary School was once again named as the top independent school provincially, when the Department of Education’s Matric Awards ceremony was held at The Ranch Resort last week.

The school’s matric class of 2023 achieved a 92% National Senior Certificate pass rate which is a slight improvement on last year ‘s 91,9% pass rate.

Frederick Romijn, the headmaster of Northern Academy Secondary School said even though a lot of work still needs to be done for them to achieve a 100% pass rate, they are satisfied to once again have won the independent schools award.

“We won the award last year too, and I would like to thank all the staff members and the teachers for their commitment towards our learners. We will continue working hard towards a 100% pass rate.”

Another winner from the school was Livingstone Rumhungwe, a physical sciences teacher who won the award for best performing teacher in public schools in gateway and selected subjects. “I am happy with the award. It shows that I am growing in my profession.

“I hope to inspire learners at the school.

Rumhungwe joined Northern Academy from Mbilwi Secondary School last year and enjoys helping learners to excel in physical science. “I want to develop and strengthen good relationships with the learners at the school, and establish deeper levels of dedication and commitment among learners so that they achieve good results.”
