PEPPS’ Boitumelo bags 7 distinctions

Dux learner Boitumelo Matjena added that there was never a day of defeat with them as they motivated each other academically.

POLOKWANE – PEPPS college dux learner Boitumelo Matjena obtained distinctions in mathematics, physical sciences, life sciences, accounting, life orientation, English Home Language and Afrikaans First Additional Language. With these results, she plans to study medicine at the University of Cape Town.

“Throughout the year, I didn’t get distinctions in the languages but I pushed hard at the end with the help of my teachers. I’m very grateful to God for such wonderful achievements,” she said.

Looking back at the final year of her high school career, she said although challenging, she had fun.

She added that the challenging aspect of the year was the knowledge that 2023 is the year that would pave the future for her.

She knew she had to excel in all her subjects, which required immense strategy, planning and focus. She and her schoolmates made the most of the time they had together.

To achieve what she did, Matjena said she was honest with herself about her progress, even if it meant studying past midnight to cover all the content.

“It took me out of my comfort zone, but I asked for help when I needed it. Even for the smallest challenges, I asked my friends and teachers for guidance in order to have 100% assurance. Most importantly, I did not indulge in procrastination and worked hard from the beginning. I began important summaries in the beginning of the year and did not leave all the work until the end of the year.”

As she moves to the next chapter, she is going to miss her close friends, she said, as they played a major part in her matric journey.

She added that there was never a day of defeat with them as they motivated each other academically.

“They made high school fun, which is something I needed in order to stay strong through the trials and to conquer all the challenges.”
