Bet-Shalom learners enjoy exciting excursion

POLOKWANE – A total of 94 Bet-Shalom Christian School Gr 3 learners and six teachers went on an exciting excursion on Friday as they visited Letaba River Lodge and the Tzaneen Lion and Predator Park.

Teacher at the school, Angelique Kennedy told Review the purpose of the trip was to create real life experiences and to enhance learners’ knowledge on animals, in reference to their Afrikaans theme ‘diere’ and life skills.

Both the learners and teachers enjoyed the surrounding of the beauty of nature, the roaring sounds of the lions and the tour.

“Learners got to understand that animal parks safeguard these habitats and provide a safe space for wildlife to breed and survive. They got to understand that without national parks, certain animal species are at greater risk of becoming extinct, and that a landscape needs to be protected in order to provide habitat for wildlife.”

Gr 3 learners Emily Malapane and Botlhokwa Moruti get a feel of inside a lion and tiger’s lives.

Including in the animals they got to see were tigers, hyenas, wild dogs, caracals, servals, emus, giraffes, impala, nyalas and zebras.
