The department hosts annual SAYWP national competitions to inspire learners to pursue water and sanitation career paths in order to find sustainable solutions to numerous water sector challenges.

Victor said he wants to study civil engineering not only because it is one of the courses the department sponsors, but also due to his fascination of being “on site”.

“I discovered that I have a passion for construction when my father and I built a house in Ga-Matlala. There’s something about being on site that makes me feel complete and the project with my father has given me necessary experience,” he said.
