Young golfers show off on the green
Polokwane Golf Club hosted the Northern High Schools Open as a opportunity for scholar golfers to showcase their talent on April 20.
POLOKWANE – Top golfers from various schools in the province participated in the Northern High Schools Open held at the Polokwane Golf Club on April 20.
The event was divided into A, B and C divisions, and saw players in the A division play 36 holes while those in divisions B and C competed over 18 holes.
Hendrik Malan, the organiser of the event said 80 players came to the open, which is a great feat for golf development in schools.
“We are happy with the tremendous turnout, and the schools were well represented. We want to grow golf within schools and produce players that will represent the country one day.”
Jayden du Rand from PHS said he felt good competing against players from other schools in the province.
“We paired with players from other schools. The weather was good, and the course was also in a good condition.”
The selected players will be announced in due course.
