Taxila’s media club aims to put the school on the map

The media club at Taxila Secondary School says it is a great way to get fellow learners more involved in the school and community.

POLOKWANE – A group of learners at Taxila want to make their voices heard through writing, news reporting, interviewing skills and innovative ideas and decided to establish a media club is the way to go.

They want to highlight their school’s accomplishments and create lasting memories by means of a school journal.

“Since the start of this academic year, we wanted to bring something new to the school,” said a learner, Bokang Mashishi.

The club aims to report on school events and profiles of learners and teachers.

For now, the club consists of eight members who have different roles including that of researchers, journalists, camera persons, and an editor.

The group says their media club is a great way to get fellow learners more involved in the school and community, either as club participants or as readers and viewers.

The club seeks to ensure that the school’s website is active and filled with up-to-date information.

They say they will be working with the prefects to ensure that the school is recognised for the good work they do.
