Mitchell House learners on what makes a great entrepreneur

Gr 11 learners at Mitchell House had the opportunity to operate the school’s tuck shop last week to better understand what they learn in class.

POLOKWANE – Gr 11 learners at Mitchell House showed off their entrepreneurial skills at the school’s tuckshop takeover last week.

Learners marketed their ideas to business studies teacher Charmaine Mathibela which included a pre-order system, choice of products, marketing strategies and lessons learnt in running a tuckshop for the day.

The Polokwane Review asked learners what they think makes a great entrepreneur:

Ruvarashe Goromondo: An entrepreneur is someone who is not afraid to take risks and not afraid to interact with people and that goes with a lot of perseverance.
Mu’aaz Mayet: A great entrepreneur is someone who is creative, imaginative, and hardworking as well as someone who has a great vision and the drive to advance it. He puts his work before anything first and creates opportunities for himself and others.
Neo Madau: To be an entrepreneur, one must always seek for new business opportunities, think creatively, and avoid focusing on just one thing while searching for ways to improve existing concepts.
Herman Kgomo: The ability to identify market gaps and fill them in a way that is suitable to their customers and to  have a sincere aim and understand their vision in for growth.
Phala Mogashwa: Being an entrepreneur is more than just owning a business, in accordance with my teacher’s recommendation that Gr 11 is the grade of practicals. It consists of a passionate individual with the desire to see the company flourish.
Tshenolo Nchabeleng: With today’s takeover, we got a taste of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur, which is determination, love and patience in many occasions.
