Dedicated Jabez Drummies awarded with Limpopo colours

Jabez drummies were proud to receive their Limpopo colour badges which they will soon attach to their school blazers.

POLOKWANE – Jabez Christian Academy drum majorettes girls received their Limpopo colours from the Limpopo Majorette and Cheerleading Association (Limca) on October 29 in Mokopane.

The competition was held at Laerskool Krugerpark as they performed against the host, Laerskool Potgietersrus, Nirvana Primary School, Pietersburg Comprehensive School, Waterberg High School and SJ van der Merwe Technical High School.

More than 41 dedicated girls participated in the competition, all dressed in black and white attire.

During the competition, each performer was given a task to work out their own original routine and perform on the field for two minutes long, splitting the performances into one minute of a mace choreography and another minute to perform with double flags.

The coaches were then given about two to three hours to teach the performers a certain routine which they had to memorise and perform as a group.

Jabez drummies were proud to receive their Limpopo colour badges which they will soon attach to their school blazers. Group leader Chiamaka Anokwuru in Gr 7 told Review that the group performed really well.

“The team represented the school well with the group and solo performances. I’m especially proud of Tshimologo Ngwenya in Gr 4 because this was her first time performing in a such big competition, so that makes me proud as their leader,” she said.

Tshimologo added that it wasn’t easy performing a solo on a big field.

“I’m grateful for our coaches for always giving us the support we need as a team. I got my very first Limpopo colours in drummies and it’s all because of them. They always encourage and push us to our very best because if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have come this far,” Tshimolego added.

School principal Elana Erasmus couldn’t have been more proud as she concluded that the school is happy with the results. “Well done to all the girls.”
