PCS drummies proud of performance at nationals

PCS' drum majorette team proudly represents Limpopo at national championships, gaining valuable experience.

POLOKWANE – The drum majorette team from Pietersburg Comprehensive School recently represented the province at the South African Drum Majorettes Championship held in Cape Town, competing against various primary schools from different provinces in flag and drill categories.

Modikwa Mohlake, the teacher and head of drum majorettes at the school, expressed pride in the team’s efforts, despite not finishing in the top three.

“We have a fairly new team with less national experience. The core of our team left for secondary schools, and some members were making their debut on the national stage. They are still young and eager to learn, and they will improve with more competitions like this,” Mohlake said.

Looking ahead, Mohlake announced preparations for a local drum majorettes competition scheduled for November, which will be the team’s final competition for the year.

“The committee is still finalising the dates and venues. We want to perform well. We have talented drummies at our school, and I am confident they will give their best performances.”
