POLOKWANE – Three people were killed during a head-on collision on the R521 Kalkbank road near Dendron this morning.
The incident left traffic at a standstill for several hours as emergency services attended to the scene.
The Limpopo Department of Transport reports a light delivery bakkie collided head-on with another vehicle at 07:50.
The driver and two passengers of the bakkie were declared dead, while the driver and five passengers from the other vehicle were seriously injured during the collision.
“The cause of the incident is still under investigation,” the department reports.
Last Monday (October 30), one person was killed during a head-on collision on the N1-28 near Makete Lodge outside Polokwane.
At the time of the incident, a freightliner truck and a sedan collided head-on, resulting in multiple rear-ends of two minibus taxis, a bakkie and two sedans.
