Limpopo man found with son’s (2) mutilated body parts

Limpopo police say a ritual murder cannot be ruled out after a Villa Nora man was arrested for the murder of his two-year-old son.

POLOKWANE – A 22-year-old man will appear before the Phalala Magistrate’s Court soon for the alleged murder of his two-year-old son.

The toddler’s murder has been met with strong condemnation by the Limpopo police and the community at large.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Shongoane village in the Villa Nora policing precinct outside Lephalale.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the police responded to the scene at around 06:00 after they were alerted by the community.

“The police found the child’s mutilated body on a bed and the suspect, who was in possession of some of the victim’s body parts, was arrested and charged with murder,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the motive behind the senseless killing is still unknown and that a ritual killing cannot be ruled out.

The acting provincial police commissioner Major General Samuel Manala said the suspect deserves the harshest sentence possible and urged the investigating team to ensure that justice is served.

“Police investigations continue,” Ledwaba concluded.
