PEPPS learner (17) wins Sekelbos Got Talent

Tlhompho Tjia wins R10 000 prize with her impressive vocals, balancing music and academics with dedication and passion.

POLOKWANE – Tlhompho Tjia, a 17-year-old learner from PEPPS, achieved a victory at the Sekelbos Got Talent competition, as part of the Sekelbosfees 2024 music festival.

Tlhompho entered the competition after her Afrikaans teacher, Chantelle Labuschagne, encouraged her to participate.

“She believed in me and was excited for me to enter this competition,” Tlhompho said.

Balancing her passion for music with her academic commitments, Tlhompho has successfully managed both.

“I have always juggled music and academics, and I intend to continue with both in the future. While the future is uncertain, I trust that God will guide me toward the career path he has planned for me,” she added.

Tlhompho expressed her gratitude to head of the culture department, Katlego Mpepele, Labuschagne, and her parents for their unwavering support and dedication over the past two weeks, helping her prepare for the competition.

She is thrilled to have won the R10 000 prize, appreciating the opportunity to excel in something she loves.
