Vehicle stolen in Gauteng recovered on N1 North

Limpopo police say their members tactically positioned themselves near the tollgate when the described vehicle was spotted. 

POLOKWANE – A luxury sedan that was reported hijacked in the Douglasdale area, Gauteng, was recovered by Limpopo police near the Nyl Plaza on Thursday (October 3).

The recovery of the vehicle also led to the arrest of two men, aged 27 and 30, who now face a charge of possession of a suspected hijacked motor vehicle.

Limpopo police say their members tactically positioned themselves near the tollgate when the described vehicle was spotted.

“The vehicle with the driver and one passenger was stopped and searched. It was tested as per the SAPS system and the vehicle was found to be reported hijacked in October. The suspects were immediately arrested,” police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.

The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Samuel Manala welcomed the arrest and praised the police for a job well done.

Ledwaba said the suspects will appear before the Mokopane and Douglasdale Magistrates Courts respectively in due course.

“Police investigations continue,” his statement concluded.
