Bubbly’s law firm is a vision come to life

Polokwane-based attorney Bubbly Tshilidzi Tshikovhi says she wants to be a lawyer who advocates for peace while affording clients the necessary assistance.

POLOKWANE – Bubbly Tshilidzi Tshikovhi (36) visioned herself building a thriving law firm one day and her vision has become a reality.

Bubbly completed her LLB at the University of Limpopo in 2012, did her legal practices for six months in 2013 and completed her articles of clerkship with Popela Maake Attorneys for two years while writing her board examination.

“When my contract expired, I joined SC Mhluli Attorneys and soon after, I passed my board exam in 2016. I got admitted as an attorney in 2017 and in 2018 I opened a firm with my business partner but it did not work out and he resigned.” Bubbly noted that she changed the firm name to Tshikovhi Inc Attorneys.

“I did not want to be dependent or be an employee for the rest of my life and that motivated me to open my own firm. I knew if I work hard and put trust in God, I will make it because I want the finer things in life that I can now afford,” she said.

She also highlighted that there is a notion that lawyers are crooks and ruthless but she believes that this varies with individuals. “I always wanted to be a lawyer who advocates for peace while affording clients the necessary assistance, hence I decided to deal mainly with the administration of deceased estates.”

Bubbly noted that if someone want to be an attorney they need to make sure that they acquire a lot of knowledge regarding the area of specialty: “Save money that can sustain you and your firm for at least six months while you are still trying to find your feet.”

Bubbly believes that order in the work space fosters a positive company culture and that accountability and ownership towards a matter also advocate for a healthy working environment.

“My long-term goal is to see my firm with at least three branches for it to be acknowledged as one of the biggest law firms.”

Bubbly highlighted how grateful she is to her a husband, who also is an attorney and the director of the firm, as he handles cases while she deals with the management of the firm.

“Our clients are very important because without them we would not have a sustainable business. When we consult with them, we make sure that they are in a welcoming environment, we put them at ease and ensure confidentiality in every detail they share with us.”

Bubbly is an inspiration to young an upcoming attorneys who would like to follow her footsteps.
