POLOKWANE – September marks the celebration of Tourism Month under the theme “Sustainable Journeys, Timeless Memories.”

The month marks a time to recognise the transformative power of travelling and exploration.

Many people visit various destinations to honour the vibrant cultural exchange, economic growth and community development that tourism brings.

From breathtaking natural wonders to lively historical landmarks that offer a wealth of experience that leave lasting memories, the Polokwane Observer asked residents what their dream destinations are in Limpopo.

Rachel Mashiloane: Bela-Bela Hot Springs is one of my favourite destinations I would love to visit before the end of September. This will be the time for me to relax, swim, soak or just lie in the shade, I would also like to do some hiking and game viewing because its so much fun to do.
Brian Shoba: Waterberg Biosphere Reserve is the destination I would love to visit. There’s a guided bush walks were one can take a guided walking safari to experience the flora and fauna up close, learn about animal tracks, and gain insights into the ecosystem from knowledgeable guides. Another thing is the bird watching – the reserve is a home to a variety of bird species which can be very interesting if one is fond of birds, so binoculars are definitely needed to spot birds such as eagles, vultures, and various waterfowl.
Keamogetse Mashiane: I would like to visit Mapungubye National Park, because the destination is rich in history and culture. I would like to see the expensive minerals found there and how the ancient people respected their culture. All their activities, hiking trails to have the stunning views. The most reason to be there is to view the hiking of Mabungubye.
Refilwe Mabusela: I would love to visit Limpokwena Nature Reserve because it is a great concentration and diversity of birdlife and wildlife, game drives and walking tour that can refresh my mind. Limpokwena provides a beautiful wildlife experience that no one can forget and it also has a beautiful view.
Neo Mthombeni: Visiting Welgevonden Private Game Reserve will be a dream come true because this is the home of more than 60 mammal species including the Big Five and different types of birds one can see. There is so much to look at and learn about because I have a big interest in knowing about the animals more than any other things in this world.
Aletta Nkohla: I would like to visit Mabalingwe Game Reserve because I can see the Big Five easily, the beauty of the sunsets, a large amount of wildlife so there is a lot of adventurous activities that I can do. The accommodation seems to be a top notch and I am so excited to go there on September 28 with my family.
Khensani Selaloke: Mapesu Private Game Reserve is one of the destination I would love to visit, because it has a safe environment for activities such as cycling, tracking games, walking and birds drives which I would like to do when I go there. It looks so refreshing and maybe I can find some peace to think about my life and relax since it’s private.
