Man arrested after police find suspected stolen goods in Polokwane

Sound equipment, worth R22k, was found hidden at a location in Polokwane after it was stolen at a local church in Malipsdrift at the beginning of September.

POLOKWANE – A tip off about suspected stolen sound equipment led to the arrest of a man (30) in Polokwane.

The equipment, which was stolen from a local church in the Malipsdrift policing area at the beginning of September, was found hidden at a location in Polokwane.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba a trio of policemen were accompanied by a retired captain for the arrest and followed a tip off all the way to Polokwane.

“Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect was found in Mashadi Village, in Ga-Mathabatha after he committed a business burglary at a local church,” his statement read.

The police followed up on the tip-off which led to the discovery of speakers and amplifiers worth R22k in Polokwane and the suspect was arrested.

The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe welcomed the arrest and applauded the trio of officers as well as the retired captain for their swift reaction that led to the arrest.

Ledwaba said the suspect appeared before the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
