Limpopo police rescue kidnapped woman (19)

Limpopo police arrest 24-year-old suspect for kidnapping and raping 19-year-old woman, despite active protection order.

POLOKWANE – A 19-year-old woman was rescued by police on Monday (September 23) after being kidnapped by her ex-partner.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says that the victim was at home on Sunday evening when her ex-boyfriend, also the father of her children, called her name outside.

He told her to come closer to his vehicle under the pretence of giving her diapers. As she approached, he grabbed her, threatened to kill her, forced her into his car and drove away.

When she didn’t come back, the victim’s family alerted the police as there is an active protection order against the suspect.

“The police located the victim the following day in the early hours of the morning in Luckau village at the suspect’s residence. The victim reported that he also raped her. Police opened cases of kidnapping and rape. The suspect was arrested in the Hlogotlou policing area,” says Ledwaba.

The suspect will appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court today (September 25) facing charges of kidnapping and rape while police investigations continue.
