Noorderland RCL reflects on year of growth

POLOKWANE – As the school year draws to a close, the outgoing Representative Council of Learners (RCL) at Noorderland High School handed over their responsibilities to the next group of learner leaders.

Looking back on a successful year, the former RCL members shared valuable lessons from their leadership experiences.

Former RCL president, Vhulenda Mudau, vividly recalled the day she was named president on October 25, 2023.

“That day was remarkable and life-changing. Being the president was a blissful experience but challenged many aspects of my personality,” she said. Mudau noted that the role helped her develop strong leadership, empathy, and resilience.

Moyahabo Mphelo shared that having a “thick skin” allowed him to overcome challenges during his leadership tenure.

“What helped me grow was the deep desire to learn from every encounter,” he told Review. Mphelo now sees himself as someone who can help others and believes leadership is in his nature.

For Omphile Molala, being part of the RCL was a long, but rewarding journey. She described it as a privilege that equipped her with skills for the future.

“One principle I will carry for the rest of my life is that with a positive attitude and a big smile, you can not only change your life but the lives of those around you,” she said, emphasising the impact of positivity on both peers and observers.

Each leader expressed gratitude for their time in office, carrying forward the lessons and experiences into their next chapters.
