Royal Heritage festival draws thousands

Royal Heritage Festival draws thousands to Nandoni Dam for music, culture and celebration, featuring top SA artists.

LIMPOPO – The 10th annual Royal Heritage Festival at Nandoni Dam was the ultimate destination on Saturday, showcasing a line-up of top South African musicians.

The festival, held to celebrate Heritage Month and promote cultural awareness, attracted thousands of fans from across the country who came to enjoy performances by their favourite artists and DJs.

Headlining the event were renowned performers such as Vusi Mahlasela, Benny Mayinganye, Daliwongo, Khakhathi and Friends, and Mark Ngwazi, along with local talent.

One of the night’s highlights was Mdu Masilela, who took the stage at midnight with hits like ‘Mazola’ and ‘Chomi ya Bana’, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Following Masilela, powerhouse twins George and Joseph Mothiba of Revolution kept the energy high with their timeless classics.

The three-day celebration began on Friday with a pre-party at Deresalaam, featuring Musa Keys, and continued with an exhilarating performance at Mahlambandlovu Spin City, where head patrollers spun their BMW Gusheshe cars.

Other standout performances included Dr Colbert Mukwevho, who captivated the crowd, and Rude Kid Venda, who excited fans by dramatically removing his shirt mid-performance.

However, Gusba Banana’s set was met with less enthusiasm, described as more suited for a younger audience.

Crowd favourites including Cyria the Community, Mizo Phyll, Osca MBO and Lamiez Holworthy delivered memorable performances, while Aymos, Joe Shirimani, and Mawhoo kept the dance floor alive. Racha Kill also gave a passionate performance.

The event wasn’t just about live music. Popular DJs including Oskido, Mac G, Sol Phenduka, DJ Nipro, Vhuyi Da DJ, Dr. Gee, Miss P, and local DJs kept the energy up all night.

Black Motion, known for their electrifying shows, thrilled the audience with their beloved hits, leaving fans clamouring for more.

SABC personalities from Muvhango and Skeem Saam, including Gabriel Temudzani, Mulisa Mudau, Wiseman Zitha, and Patrick Seleka, also made appearances, adding to the excitement and fanfare of the festival.

The Royal Heritage Festival was a celebration that not only honoured South African heritage but brought people together in a night of unforgettable music and entertainment.
