Heavy traffic expected in Limpopo from Friday

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Department of Traffic and Community Safety says they anticipate increased traffic from today and through the weekend.
Transport spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene says the increase in traffic is due to the school holidays as well as those travelling for religious gatherings and tourism.

The N1/N4 operator says they are expecting busy conditions between 12:00 and 20:00 on the N1 North.

“To ensure a smooth journey, law enforcement officers are strategically deployed along major routes, including the N1, N11, R101, R81, R71, R579, R37, R36, R40, R528, R574, R516, R521, D4040, D19, D4, R524, and R523, to manage traffic flow,” she said.
Chuene added that officers will maintain a zero-tolerance stance against reckless and irresponsible behaviour that endangers lives on the province’s roads.
“This includes, but is not limited to, speeding, drunk driving, overloading, driving without a valid license, and operating vehicles with expired license discs. Offenders will face the full might of the law,” Chuene said.
Motorists are urged to prioritise safety by taking a crucial precautions such as ensuring your vehicle is roadworthy before embarking on your journey, checking essential components such as tyres, brakes, and lights and minimising distractions while driving by refraining from using mobile phones or engaging in activities that may divert your attention from the road.
“Ensure that all occupants wear seatbelts at all times and secure children in approved child restraints.
