Mahala Week opened at Kruger National Park

Collins Chabane Mayor launches Mahala Week at KNP's Punda Maria gate, promoting heritage sites and tourism in Limpopo.

LIMPOPO – Collins Chabane Mayor Gezane Shadrack Maluleke, led a delegation to the official opening of the Kruger National Park (Punda Maria gate) for the Mahala Week last Tuesday.

During this event, Maluleke encouraged residents to take pride in exploring cultural heritage sites and to take advantage of the free access granted to the national parks.

The South African National Parks (SANParks) is offering free entry to its parks, including the Kruger National Park, during Mahala Week in celebration of South African National Parks Week.

Maluleke stressed the importance of environmental protection, citing Nelson Mandela’s vision of preserving the country’s natural wonders.

He urged all Collins Chabane Municipality residents to participate in this opportunity to explore the country’s parks, especially during Heritage Month.

Joining the mayor were chief Humphrey Mugakula Makuleke, Xitsonga music legend Dr Thomas Chauke, chief whip Erick Baloyi, and members of the municipality’s executive committee.

Limpopo Economic Development and Tourism MEC, Tshitereke Matibe, highlighted that Mahala Week aims to boost tourism within Limpopo and encourage locals to explore the province’s beauty.

He said the tourism sector has the potential to create jobs and inject significant capital into local municipalities.

Matibe also promoted the Tourism Thursdays campaign, encouraging residents to visit local tourist attractions throughout Tourism Month and beyond.
