Noorderland RCL enjoys team-building

Noorderland's RCL builds teamwork and leadership skills through challenging activities and reflective experiences on camp.

POLOKWANE – Noorderland’s Gr 8-10 Representative Council of Learners (RCL) participated in an enriching empowerment programme in Hoedspruit from August 30 to September 1. The camp focused on fostering teamwork and personal growth through a series of challenging and engaging activities.

The learners engaged in river activities, field exercises, and obstacle courses designed to test their mental and physical resilience. The weekend concluded with a reflective boat ride, providing a moment to process their experiences and insights.

Martha Chuene-Masopoga, head of Gr 9, highlighted the camp’s impact, noting that it provided valuable lessons in overcoming challenges and developing strong character.

“The programme was not only a physical and mental challenge but also an emotional one,” Chuene-Masopoga said, “the learners supported each other throughout the weekend, learning the importance of teamwork and perseverance. They realised that no one should be left behind, reinforcing the value of solidarity.”

Chuene-Masopoga selected this programme to empower the same group of learners from an early stage, aiming to build their leadership skills and prepare them for future responsibilities. “This initiative is about nurturing these leaders from the start and preparing them to lead effectively by the time they reach Gr 12,” she added.
