Kruinies visit Polokwane Nasorgsentrum

Curro Heuwelkruin's Gr 10 and Gr 11 learners bring joy and donations to Polokwane Nasorgsentrum, making a meaningful impact in the community.

POLOKWANE – Each year, Gr 10 and Gr 11 learners at Curro Heuwelkruin collaborate on an initiative aimed at enhancing the lives of others.

This tradition continued on Saturday, when a dedicated group of learners visited the Polokwane Nasorgsentrum to make a meaningful impact.

Caitlin Bradbury, Nicole Potgieter, Olivia Steyn, Nicole Krogh, Marize Rabe, Molefi Marumo, and Lethabo Puka brought a generous donation of food, cleaning materials, toiletries, stationery, and even a much-needed frying pan.

Bradbury, reflecting on the event, said all their work is voluntary.

“The Gr 10s focus on collecting money and items as part of their life orientation curriculum, while the Gr 11s use these resources and their time for the Mr and Miss Heuwelkruin ambassadors project.”

The highlight of the visit was the unexpected gift of a frying pan.

Saartjie du Toit, the home mother, expressed her delight: “Our pan for making vetkoeke every Friday was in dire need of replacement. I was amazed when I saw the frying pan among the donations. I can’t even recall writing it on our list – it must be a gift from above. We are deeply grateful for all these wonderful contributions.”

In addition to their generous donations, the learners spent several hours at the centre, engaging with residents and assisting with various tasks. Their visit not only provided much-needed supplies but also brought joy and companionship to those at Polokwane Nasorgsentrum.
