Ivypark fosters digital literacy with coding, robotics

Ivypark learners dive into coding and robotics with Stimu-Zone, developing critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

POLOKWANE – Learners from Laerskool Ivypark actively participated in the school’s Stimu-Zone Coding and Robotics projects on August 28.

Teacher Mirie le Roux, emphasised the importance of these programmes, explaining that Stimu-Zone offers affordable and engaging technology designed to prepare the next generation for the digital world.

“Coding is our flagship product, delivering impressive results and enjoyment for the learners. Through coding, we empower them to think critically and solve challenges creatively, making it the new form of digital literacy,” she said.

She stressed that participation in coding is crucial for exposing learners to the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (Stem).

“Robotics is the natural progression, applying the knowledge gained from coding. Artificial intelligence in education enhances personalised learning, engages students in dynamic ways, supports inclusivity, and improves learning outcomes for all children.”

Le Roux added that the benefits of coding and robotics include boosting problem-solving skills, tackling real-world challenges, fostering creative thinking, and encouraging teamwork.

“Group projects promote collaboration, engage different learning styles, and cater to visual, kinaesthetic, and auditory learners.”
