Honey Bunny Bakery expands in Vhembe

Honey Bunny Bakery is a rising star in Vhembe's food scene, offering high-quality treats and creating jobs for local women and youth.

LIMPOPO – Founded in 2022 by Mashudu Mudau from White Area in Sibasa, Honey Bunny Bakery and Confectionery is making a name for itself with high-quality baked goods and confectionery.

Specialising in birthday and wedding cakes, scones, muffins, bread, biscuits, and Swiss rolls, the bakery also supplies several leading supermarkets in Vhembe.

Mudau’s passion for baking and her ability to spot a gap in the market in Makwarela township inspired her to launch the business.

Her breakthrough came when she secured bakery equipment through assistance from Seda and Rasinkhu Investment, allowing Honey Bunny to scale up production.

The bakery now employs 10 permanent staff members and has expanded its product line to include soft drinks, slush puppies, and ice-cream.

The target market ranges from bridal and baby showers to spaza shops, trading stores, and general customers, with products sold in stores and surrounding areas.

Despite competition in Vhembe, Honey Bunny stands out by offering fresh, high-quality goods.

Manager Mashudu Mutele said their readiness to compete in supplying first class confectionery products to local clients, is what sets them apart.

Originally a hobby for Mudau, baking turned into a full-time business when she resigned from her government job.

Now, Honey Bunny aims to engage women and youth by creating jobs.

The bakery plans to expand by opening branches and establishing a confectionery training centre within two years.

With a goal of generating R135 000 in monthly sales and reaching R1.6m in annual revenue, Honey Bunny Bakery is poised for growth while contributing to the economic development of the province.
