RAF gives Mokopane Hospital’s emergency unit an upgrade

Mogalakwena Mayor Ngoako Taueatsoala emphasised the strategic importance of the Mokopane Hospital, which lies at a crucial junction within the district and the province.

MOKOPANE – The Road Accident Fund (RAF) has responded to the urgent need for an upgrade to the accident and emergency unit at Mokopane Hospital, which had been in a critical condition.

Last Friday, representatives from the RAF, along with the MEC for Health, Dieketseng Mashego and Mogalakwena Mayor Ngoako Taueatsoala, officially unveiled the newly renovated unit.

During the opening, Taueatsoala highlighted the significant transformation of the hospital.

“The launch of this facility will greatly benefit our community who requires emergency services.”

He praised the RAF’s initiative, emphasising the strategic importance of Mokopane Hospital, which lies at a crucial junction within the district and the province.

Taueatsoala explained that the hospital is located along major highways, including the N1, R101, N11, and R582, which serve as key routes for motorists travelling to countries like Zimbabwe and Botswana.

“This accident and emergency unit is vital as we are in the heart of the province,” he added, thanking all stakeholders for their efforts in making the renovation a reality.

Mashego also commended the role players for their dedication, describing the project as a milestone in the department’s commitment to healthcare excellence.

“This renovation, made possible by the RAF, exemplifies the transformative power of partnership. The modernised emergency unit is now at the forefront of our healthcare system, where every second counts, and the quality of care can mean the difference between life and death.”

Reflecting on past incidents such as the tragic bus accident involving residents from Botswana, she said the unit plays a critical role as a central facility for trauma care.

“We are thrilled to open this facility and share our medical expertise with the world,” she concluded.
