Collins Chabane Mayor makes life-changing donation

Mayor Gezane Maluleke donated a wheelchair to a resident living with a disability, greatly improving their mobility and independence.

LIMPOPO – In a heartfelt act of kindness, Collins Chabane Mayor, Gezane Shadrack Maluleke donated a brand-new wheelchair to Tlangelani Mugwena, a resident of Botseleni village living with a disability.

The donation, made last Thursday, was life-changing for Mugwena, whose previous wheelchair had become too small.

Mugwena, born with a condition that prevents him from using his legs, expressed overwhelming gratitude for the donation.

“I am so happy! I don’t know what to say. It will change my life. I am the happiest person in the world,” she said.

Maluleke said it is important to provide assistive devices to people with disabilities, adding that these donations are key to improving their quality of life.

“We need to equalise opportunities for persons with disabilities, assist their families in meeting basic needs, and ensure their inclusion in social life,” he said.

He added that the donation programme, supported by local businesses, will continue across the municipality, with beneficiaries identified through ward councillors.

Maluleke stressed that government efforts to support vulnerable communities are essential and that the Constitution protects the rights and equality of all citizens.

Maluleke was accompanied by chief whip Erick Baloyi, speaker Thina Mbedzi and members of the executive committee during the handover, marking a significant moment of support and compassion for the Botseleni community.
