Tshiawelo u/15 netball team continues to excel
Tshiawelo High School's u/15 netball team shines at the Kay Motsepe School Netball tournament, securing third place and R100 000 in prize money.
LIMPOPO – The u/15 netball team from Tshiawelo High School continues to shine, solidifying their reputation as one of the province’s top teams.
They recently excelled at the Kay Motsepe School Netball tournament, held on July 16-17 in Rustenburg, where they secured a third place, earning R100 000 in prize money and bronze medals.
Their coaches, Lemmie Masia and Sarah Singo, who accompanied the team to Rustenburg, expressed their pride in the team’s performance. According to Singo, the team was confident in their ability to succeed.
“We knew we would finish in the top four,” she said. “Our winning formula is simple: practice, practice, and more practice!”
Singo said the team had been preparing for the tournament well in advance, and their third-place finish came as no surprise.
“We are celebrating success that is the result of hard work,” she added.
Coach Masia echoed Singo’s sentiments, highlighting the team’s ongoing success.
“The team continues to put our school on the map, and they are only getting stronger, even though they have now moved on from our school,” he said.
Despite challenges, including a lack of proper training facilities and attire, the team has managed to win at various levels. Masia expressed gratitude to the parents for their trust.
“We thank the parents for allowing us to guide and support their children through these netball projects, which empower them. Participating in national championships will not only improve their performance but might also open doors to professional sports careers. However, we always encourage our learners to prioritise their education and work hard in the classroom.”
