ZCC resumes annual conference in Moria this weekend

Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane is expected to deliver the main sermon at this weekend's gathering, which will be the first post-Covid-19 service since the lockdown in 2020.

POLOKWANE – Millions of Zion Christian Church (ZCC) congregants are expected to gather in Moria this weekend as the church gradually resumes its regular conferences.

Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane is expected to deliver the main sermon at this weekend’s gathering, which will be the first post-Covid-19 service since the lockdown in 2020.

ZCC spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that the church’s first conference will be for the 2024/25 Consecration of the New Year and will take place from August 30 to September 1 in Moria City outside Polokwane.

“Internal communication with the ZCC community regarding standing protocols and processes has been communicated and will continue during this conference,” he said.

Ngoepe, on behalf of the church, requested that no vendors operate along the R71 main road between Polokwane and Tzaneen and noted that the church is a law-abiding entity.

“The church is not in any way against Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises, but that is mainly for safety measures,” his statement read.

The church’s Easter pilgrimage was marred by tragedy after 45 people were killed in a horror bus crash on the Mamatlaka bridge on March 28.

Traffic volume to Polokwane is expected to significantly increase as the week progresses as congregants make their way to the province.

Motorists are urged to exercise patience along routes used to get to Moria City.
