NCA hosts entrepreneur day for Gr 7 learners

As part of NCA's economics management science curriculum project, the students got first-hand experience in business and entrepreneurship.

POLOKWANE – Northview Christian Academy (NCA) held an exciting entrepreneur’s day for Gr 7 learners on Friday as part of their economics management science curriculum project.

The event provided students with a hands-on opportunity to explore the world of business and entrepreneurship by setting up stalls to sell various goods and products.

Lizelle Coetzer, the event organiser and EMS teacher, explained that entrepreneur’s day is designed to give learners practical experience in starting and running their own businesses.

“This project allows the learners to develop a sense of creativity while gaining valuable insights into the basics of entrepreneurship.”

During the event, learners sold a diverse range of items, including homemade foods, snacks, drinks, accessories, toys and other products.

The young entrepreneurs not only showcased their creativity but also learned essential business concepts such as marketing and profit-making.

“They need to understand that buying stock means you must make a profit in return, so you benefit from your efforts rather than spending more than what you earn from customers or clients,” Coetzer said.

In addition to running their stalls, the learners also learned about the role of sponsors and how to strategically adjust their prices while still ensuring a profit.

This experience provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of entrepreneurship, equipping them with skills that will serve them well in future business endeavours.
