POLOKWANE – The Annual Limpopo Music Awards (Lima) will take place on November 16 at a new venue, namely Mekete Boutique and Events.
Lima is a prestigious event dedicated to recognising and celebrating the musical talents and achievements of artists from Limpopo.
Since its inception, Lima has been instrumental in promoting and uplifting the local music industry, becoming a cornerstone event on the South African music calendar.
Fortune DJ Cappuccino Maswanganyi, the organiser, explained the decision to relocate the event from its previous venue, Meropa Casino and Entertainment World, to Mekete Boutique and Events.
“This change marks a new chapter for Lima, promising an even more unique and memorable experience for all attendees. Lima celebrates the rich musical talent of the province, recognising the outstanding achievements of local artists. This year’s move to Mekete Boutique and Events aligns with our goal to provide an exclusive and innovative event environment that honours the creativity and diversity of our musicians.”
He added that Mekete Boutique and Events offers an elegant and versatile space that perfectly complements the prestigious nature of the awards.
“The venue’s sophisticated ambiance and state-of-the-art facilities will enhance the overall experience for both the artists and attendees, ensuring an unforgettable night of celebration.”
Maswanganyi also shared Lima’s broader vision of expanding the reach of local music beyond regional and provincial borders.
“We want to see our artists making moves outside the province. The music industry is a multi-million-rand industry, and many believe that to break into it, you have to go to Gauteng. We want to dispel these misconceptions by giving artists in Limpopo the chance to shine and become part of great initiatives.”
Tickets for Lima 2024 will go on sale starting September 1, and the nomination period is open from August 1 to September 13.
