POLOKWANE – Laerskool Ivypark’s executive management recently organised a prayer session dedicated to learners dealing with depression and related mental health issues.
Following the session, learners were given spiritual books to aid them in seeking divine intervention.
Principal Willem Opperman emphasised the school’s commitment to supporting learners through life’s challenges.
“Supporting learners through difficult times is one of our primary responsibilities as teachers. We pray at every assembly, and this special prayer was specifically for them. We hope that the spiritual books will bring them healing,” he said.
Local pastor Johannes Lerumo said it is important to pray for learners in schools.
“Regular prayer is a powerful way to express struggles to God and seek strength and peace. Prayer in education promotes moral and ethical values among learners, teaching principles such as respect, compassion, and responsibility, which are crucial for personal development,” he noted.
