Polokwane police crack down on drug crime

A 34-year-old woman has been arrested for dealing and possession of crystal meth, with police seizing 166 sachets worth R16 000.

POLOKWANE – A joint operation between the Provincial Organised Crime Unit and the Crime Intelligence Cluster Coordination Narcotics Task Team led to the arrest of a 34-year-old-woman this afternoon (Friday, August 16).

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says that the woman was arrested for dealing and possession of drugs.

Acting on a tip about suspicious activities in a residential area on Bok Street, police were led to the suspect’s home.

“Upon searching the property, officers found 166 sachets of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R16 000.”

The suspect, who was unable to explain the origin of the drugs, was taken into custody and is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate Court on Monday (August 19) to face charges.

Police investigations are ongoing.
