Limpopo businessman John Mphosi laid to rest

The Mphosi name is well-known in the business world, particularly for its association with Global Oil South Africa.

POLOKWANE – Political and business leaders gathered on Saturday to bid farewell to Limpopo businessman, John Sidipa Mphosi.

Among those in attendance were EFF leader Julius Malema and mayors from across the province, including Maria Thamaga of Blouberg Municipality.

Mphosi, who was 71 years old, was the father of the late Theo Mphosi.

The Mphosi name is well-known in the business world, particularly for its association with Global Oil South Africa, a company that has been instrumental in establishing numerous fuel stations and restaurants in Limpopo and beyond.

John Mphosi, who founded the company and served as its chairperson, was also a notable supporter of local football clubs through financial sponsorship.

Global Oil South Africa confirmed the news of his passing last Saturday, and he was laid to rest a week later in Bochum.

Meanwhile, the office of Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba issued a statement offering condolences to the Mphosi family, acknowledging his significant contributions to the province.

“As a province, we owe a debt of gratitude to Mr Mphosi for his tireless efforts in transforming our economy. His dedication to increasing employment through his diverse business ventures has not gone unnoticed. We will forever cherish his contributions. May the soul of Mr Mphosi rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire future generations. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mphosi family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”
