Malamulele police investigate deadly bar shooting

Police are searching for the suspects involved in the fatal shooting, who fled the scene and may have escaped in an unidentified vehicle.

LIMPOPO – Malamulele police have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in a fatal shooting at a bar lounge in Mavambe village on Friday at approximately 20:00.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, reported that officers were alerted to the shooting incident at Mavambe village.

Upon arrival, they discovered two persons who had been shot.

The first victim, a 35-year-old man, was found lying motionless on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, while the second victim had sustained serious injuries.

Emergency medical services personnel were called to the scene, where they certified the first victim dead. The second victim was urgently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that an unknown man entered the bar lounge and shot the 35-year-old victim. In the process, another male was also shot. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, and there are reports suggesting he may have been picked up by an unidentified vehicle nearby,” said Ledwaba.

The motive behind the incident remains unclear.

Authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist in the apprehension of the suspects to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thanyani Bakela at 082 319 9724, the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111, or their nearest police station. Information can also be shared anonymously via the MySAPS App.

Police investigations are ongoing.
