Floyd Shivambu leaves the EFF to join the MK Party

EFF leader Julius Malema accepted Shivambu's resignation and added that other members of the EFF will be leaving for the MK Party as well.

POLOKWANE – The now former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu confirmed that he will be leaving the party to join Jacob Zuma’s MK Party.

Shivambu read out his resignation letter during a media briefing at the party’s Winnie Madikizela Mandela House a short while ago.

Shuivambu said that he would not be renewing his EFF membership and resigned as a member of parliament and the deputy president position.

“I will only do so after receiving the go-ahead form the organisation as it is the EFF who deployed me to parliament,” he said.

Shivambu added that he will cherish the work that was “collectively done in building a formidable organisation.”

Party leader Julius Malema accepted Shivambu’s resignation and added that other members of the EFF will be leaving for the MK Party as well.

“Fighters on the ground should be prepared for more people to follow and this should not serve as a point of collapse for the EFF,” he said.

Malema added that the EFF has lost a valuable member but that the show goes on.

“We wish the DP success, we know that wherever he is going, he is going to be of value.”
